Albatron GeForce FX 5200 Ultra & 5600P Video Cards

    After opening the Albatron box, you will soon find a GeForce FX, a GIGI GeForce FX manual, Win DVD Creator CD, GeForce FX NVIDIA drivers, RCA cables, S-Video to RCA cable converter, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, and a game pack. Both the 5200 ultra and the 5600P turbo come with all these exciting features.

     The physical attributes of the two cards are identical except for the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) which is hidden underneath the Heat sink Fan. As we can see the graphics board is colored teal for those who are interested in ensuring their internal components match their Cold Cathodes, however I’ve never seen anyone actually care that much about individual card colors in a computer. The heat sinks are made of copper, one active cooling system on the GPU while Albatron chose to use passive cooling systems on the memory. However the design of active cooling system directly affects the cooling properties of the passive memory heat sinks by blowing the exhaust air away from the GPU and over the memory at the same time thus cooling both the memory, and the Graphics Processing Unit.

     As we can see from the picture, the model number diverted our attention to the white pages of Samsung for the 5600’s memory, and the Hynix white pages for the 5200’s memory. As you can see, we got a bit confused about Albatron’s choice in using the memory on their products.

     The model numbers clearly state in our pictures that the 5600’s ram is Samsung model: K4D26323RA-GC33, which officially runs at 400 MHz. On the products white pages, the memory runs at an officially supported 300MHz and 600 MB/sec. We can see here Albatron is slightly over clocking the memory by 100 MHz on their 5600 Turbo.

     However when we looked at the 5200 Ultra, we were stumped. The memory on this product is manufactured by Hynix. As we can see, the model number HY5DU283222 F-28 officially runs at only 350 MHz, 50 MHz faster than the memory on the 5600 Turbo (according to Samsung and Hynix). Now the major difference here is that the memory here is not over clocked by Albatron, will this allow us to push the limit with this video card or will the Graphics Processing Unit limit us?
