Did you like Iron Man?
Yes, it totally rocked!
Yes, although I though it could have been better.
Meh, it was just another comic book movie.
No, because they got the suit all wrong!
No, I don't like special effects movies.
I haven't seen it yet.
I don't plan on seeing it.

Samsung SyncMaster 275T TFT LCD
Testing

Testing and Usage

During our tests the monitor will be used throughout numerous basic applications. Color quality, brightness, and ease of use will be taken into effect throughout all results. Several of these applications will be: Windows (Desktop, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Mozilla FireFox, File Compression, Encoding and Decoding) , Gaming (Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Test Drive Unlimited, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, Worms Mayhem, Gish, Thrillville, F.E.A.R., F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, Half-Life 2 Episode Two) , and DVD Movie Playback.

With the issues of distance set aside, the monitor did very well within windows. Plug and Play Detection picked up the monitor, I had already downloaded the driver from Samsung.com, but WindowsUpdate would have likely found the driver for me. Standard display resolution in WindowsXP is 800x600, which distorts the screen, and stretches everything displayed. After a quick change to its native resolution of 1920x1200, all was fine. The display is very bright and showed no issues with lights or darks, leaving text very easy to read. Color clarity was reproduced perfectly without the use of Samsungs MagicTune software.

Windows Desktop Windows Media Player

I have to say that the 275T was difficult to play games on. The display is so massive that if there is a lot going on in your game, you are almost guaranteed to miss something. As I also mentioned earlier, due to the very high native resolution of 1920x1200, it is extremely taxing on your system to play games! To knock down the resolution to 1440x900 is easier on your system, but things in the game are too large. A good compromise seemed to be 1680x1050 -- using my Opteron170, 2GB of Corsair PC4000, and a BFG GeForce 8600GTS 256MB card. Most current games are capable of native widescreen support, if not the higher 'abnormal' resolutions can provide this effect. Half-Life 2 (and all of its counterparts) for example have native support for all WideScreen formats. The NFS series of games on the other hand does not have native support and offers abnormal resolutions, these normally result in a 16:9 ratio and a slight stretching (which is not really noticable). The color clarity and brightness were exceptional when compared to my old CRT Monitors (even when MagicTune is not in use).

Knowing the differences between FullScreen and WideScreen, it is different (in a good way) to be able to see 'everything' on the screen. Knowing a few seconds earlier when someone is coming at you can be the difference between 'life and death'.

With the advantage of 27" of display area, the 275T reproduced DVD Movies with a theatrical point of view. Again, being that nearly all of my movies are widescreen, and the monitor is widescreen it was nice not to see the gapping at the top and bottom of the screen! Seeing as most widescreen displays now-a-day use a 16:10 aspect ratio and movies use a 16:9 aspect ratio, it just happens to leave just enough room for the navigation menus at the top & bottom of the screen. Perfection! Despite the size of the 275T, playback of movies was clear and fluent, thanks to the 6ms (G2G) response time that this 27" display boasts. Color clarity was brilliant. Darks were dark, and lights were light. No interference or bleeding was present on the screen anywhere or at any point in time. Movie playback is one aspect of this screen in which it excels with ease!
