Nor`Easter 2007 by the LAN Party Association of New England

Overview
The LAN Party Association of New England, or LPANE as many call it, is New England’s premiere LAN Party. For many, it is the largest accessible LAN Party, and as any LAN Party would dream of, LAN Addict was able to attend. Located near Boston, Massachusetts at the Shriner’s Auditorium, there was space simply calling for a LAN Party.

LPANE has been around since 2004, spawned by a collaboration of New England LAN Party Hosts hoping to bring a kick butt event to their friends in the New England Area. Since 2004, it has grown to consistently host nearly 500 gamers and, as with age, is learning and improving each and every year.

Turnout
This year was no time to take a break for the Staff. With a whopping pre-registration of over 400 paid and confirmed gamers, the task was nothing small. Imagine building a network, power grid, and providing nearly all amenities for a small town, a task in which many small towns worry over.

An hour before the event, in the rain we saw the few, the dedicated, those who are truly Addicted to LAN Parties (it brought a tear to my eye) waiting for over an hour outside. We were happy to see the check in was smooth sailing for those who were careful enough to follow directions; overall the entrance to LPANE was uneventful and rather quick. The final tally proved a grand 450 gamers gathering together making friends, enemies (we hope on the screen), and enjoying plenty of prizes.

Administration
The Staff running the event overall were professional (many props to the announcer who shall go nameless for being deafeningly loud), courteous, fun, and, well, outright organized. Few LAN Parties make as large an effort to ensure you are able to get in, sit down, shut up, and game (well, screaming at your friend is allowed when you can't find which tent he is camping in).

One of the bonuses was the friendliness that gamers found at Server Row (more like a cube). There was a constant flow of gamers asking for announcements to be made of their servers, tournaments, or flat out cries looking for hardware. And we better mention the questions on where the food and bathrooms were.
