Sytrin Nextherm PSU 460
Introduction

Nextherm Power Supply

Got a ton of drives? Got a Huge Case? Run a server that needs constant and reliable power? Well, in that case, Syntec’s Nextherm Power Supply might appeal to you.

First Impressions:

When I get power supplies to review I usually think to myself, “Whooo, power supply”. It's one of those parts that people commonly overlook and don’t pay a bit of attention to until it catches on fire. And, for being one of the most important parts of a computer, it’s surprising how many times people don’t think about them and are unimpressed by them.

So, when I first unpacked the unit, I was pleased by its construction; it’s a solid feeling unit with not a hint of flimsiness about it. It comes dressed in a rough black matte finish, with black cleanly wrapped cable covers. It definitely has the makings of a unit that is made to be abused and see heavy use.

As seen below in the specs list, it provides 460 watts of juice running at more than78% efficiency at full load. However, 460 watts may sound a little low for some of today’s high end components and systems with tons of drives. It more than makes up for that with its long and well wrapped power leads, silent functionality, and it's one of the best units I’ve seen in voltage accuracy. For cooling, it sports two 80mm temperature controlled variable speed fans, which prove to be silent and effective coolers.

Before we go farther, lets look at some specs, straight from the Sytrin Site
