Software control
Thermal monitoring
Fits in PCI slot
Lots or fan/thermal channels
Powers case lights skinable controller
Fan speed temp feature
Timer feature
Cons:
Stretch for some fan cables
PCI only
No sound/light controller
External USB interface
Sketchy interface
Hard to uninstall
Conclusion:
The Theta isn’t the greatest fan controller on the market, but it does what it set out to do and it does it quite well despite some misgivings with the software. It gives you all the fan and light controllers of a hardware unit with a software interface. I’d like to see a version with some longer thermal leads and fan power extenders, along with a hybrid PCI-E x1 and PCI mounting, a sound activation sensor to make your case lights blink with the beat of the music, and a little better software interface.
In the future, if I can acquire some more fans and case lighting I’ll retest the Theta and post some more information on its performance. The Theta is overall an ok unit; it does what it sets out to do and does it fairly well despite a couple of minor rough edges.
