The XG Magnum’s design disallows it from fitting into some cases. A sizing guide can be found here. The XG Magnum’s cables are magnetically shielded and have a neat UV reactive cable sleeving on them that glow if exposed to UV light.
The XG Magnum’s cables are just a tad too short, by just 1-3 inches, making installation a tight fit. Another tight fit are the connectors themselves. It takes a little more effort than your run of the mill plugs to dislodge them from components. Although this is not exactly a bad thing, it is somewhat of a hassle when the plugs won’t come off when, for instance, you ever wanted to install a different power supply.
The LCD panel that is on the back of the power supply provides a slight problem, The viewing angle of it is very limited, so much so that you almost have to be looking straight on at it to even read it. This can prove difficult when the unit is installed, especially if the rear of the case is not quickly and easily accessible.
If you decide to get a Magnum and find that the supply is missing the boots covering the connectors on the cables, don’t fear. It seems that the boots interfered with the installation of the unit on some motherboards and components, so the company removed the boots on units in stock. Probably by the time you need a new power supply or by the time you read this, this issue should be cleared up and the units will have a different boot on them that doesn’t interfere with installation. The Magnum also does not come with a 6 pin auxiliary connector that some motherboards require.
