Bluetake BT510 Bluetooth Mouse and BT009Si Bluetooth Adapter
Testing
Testing
When it comes to testing a new mouse, using it in place of you current mouse is the only way to do it. In order to do that, however, I had to let Windows XP know that I was using a Bluetooth mouse. With the BT510 and BT009Si, there are two wqaysa to do this. One is to install the Blue Soleil software that comes with both the BT009Si and the BT510. The other, and much easier, way is to just plug the BT009Si into an open USB port and let Windows take care of the rest. The only down side to the Windows built-in Bluetooth support is the fact that you cannot use a passkey. This means that it is possible for someone to connect a device you don't know about to your PC, IF they can get access to your PC to run the wizard that connects the Bluetooth device.
Once the BT510 Bluetooth Mini Mouse is connected to the BT009Si USB Bluetooth Adapter, I just did all the things I normally do on my PC. Web surfing, email, gaming, everything worked just as well with the BT510 as they did with my Razer Viper wired mouse. In fact, the only issue I had with the BT510 was its size. It is just a bit too small for me to use it comfortably for a long period of time. My wife thinks it is a little small for her to use for an extended period of time, as well.
I was able to move the cursor on the screen from about 30 feet away, as advertised. I had to have my wife sit and watch the cursor move, though, because I was down the hall and well into a different room before the signal from the BT51- mouse couldn't reach the BT009Si adapter any longer. I can see the range being a huge plus for people with Home Theater PCs.
