There is only one way to test a product like the Chameleon and that is to plug it in and turn it on! Unlike a lot of lighting products, the Chameleon has an On/Off switch. In addition, you can turn of the individual rheostats and still leave the LEDs on the controller turned on. I thought this was not only very useful, but convenient as well. Not everyone wants to be blinded the instant they turn on their PC!
The red at full intensity actually looks much redder than my poor little camera can pick up in the dark. Once I saw the individual colors, it was time to fiddle with the dials! :-D
Conclusion
I think Sunbeam has a real winner on its hands with the Chameleon! Not only can you set the color to your liking, but the four individual LED cannon lights let you focus the lighting exactly where you want it inside of your case. The Chameleon is also a pretty good lighting deal price-wise, too.
The only real improvements I can think of for the Chameleon would be to make the variation in the voltages sent to the LEDs a little larger. As it is now, there isn't a whole lot of change in the intensity until you're up toward the top end of the dial. Then, it goes from a mild light to a bright light, without too much transition in between. A little larger transition phase would allow for some pretty cool and subtle lighting effects."
