Sunbeamtech Samurai ATX Case
Introduction

Introduction

Sunbeam makes a lot of accessories for PC cases. Cold cathodes, LED fans, LED case lighting, lighting and fan controllers, all kinds of accessories. Sunbeam also makes PC cases, one of which, the Samurai, I'm looking at today. Before we get any further along, I'd like to thank Keven of Sunbeam for providing the sample used in this review.

Product Packaging

When the case arrived, I was a bit apprehensive. The box looked as if it had taken more than its fair share of rough treatment on its way to me.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that, although the box had been roughly treated, the case inside was in perfect shape. This was due in no small part to the extra styrofoam used on the sides of the case to provide extra protection during shipment. Most cases only get the top and bottom pieces of styrofoam, which leaves the sides of the case vulnerable.

Case Front

Sunbeam's Samurai does not have a high gloss, ultra shiny finish. The good news in that this means the Samurai is not going to make fingerprints extremely visible at the slightest touch!

The front of the Samurai is kind of complicated looking, but is not complicated at all. The big blue button turns your PC on and the door opens on the right-hand side. The front audio and USB ports are also located on the right-hand side, which is something to keep in mind if you plan on using them.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the door of the Samurai is that there is enough room for the knobs of a fan controller. One of the reasons I usually dislike cases with doors is that you typically have to remove the door or stealth any protrusions from devices mounted in the 5.25" bays. Speaking of the bays, notice that there are five extrenal 5.25" bays and only one external 3.5" bay.
