Thermalright SLK-800U Heatsink
Testing and Conclusion

The Thermalright SLK-800U was tested using a Pentium 4 2.4B processor running at 2.7GHz (FSB 150MHz)and 512MB of Corsair PC3200LL RAM on an Albatron PX865PE Pro II motherboard. I also used a Themaltake Smart Fan II running at full speed. Temperatures were taken using Motherboard Monitor 5.5.3.0. Load was obtained by running Folding@Home in the background while playing Neverwinter Nights for six hours. I would have played longer, but I'm not as young as I used to be.

Conclusion
The Thermalright SLK-800U is
an excellent heatsink. It comes with all the hardware you need to install it on your Socket 478 or Socket A motherboard, although installing on a Socket A motherboard requires that your board have the four mounting holes around the CPU socket. The fan clips make installing or changing the fan a much easier task than on any other heatsink I've used. Overall, Thermalright has created a terrific product and made it as versatile as possible.

There is really only one thing that bothered me with the SLK-800U, and it isn't really related to the heatsink itself. It would have been nice if Thermalright had included installation instructions in the box. Yes, the instructions are on Thermalright's website, but that won't help if you've just taken apart your only PC to install the SLK-800U. Also, the only instructions now on the website are for using the back plate. There are no instructions for using the standard Socket 478 heatsink bracket. Granted, it isn't hard to figure out, but with so much care being put into the heatsink itself, it's a shame to leave something like this out.
