Seasonic Super Tornado Power Supply Unit Let's See What's Inside
Let's See What's
Inside
OK, I've shown you some specs and I've shown you some charts and graphs. Now
it's time I show you the Seasonic Super Tornado itself.

One of the first things I noticed was that the back of the Super
Tornado has almost nothing to restrict the flow of air through the PSU. The
second thing I noticed was that the 120mm fan is big! It's a good thing the fan
is so big because there isn't a whole lot of heatsink inside the Super Tornado
to help keep it cool.
One other note, although it is hard to make out in the picture,
the total wattage for the +3.3V and +5V rails is listed as 180W on the sticker
affixed to the Super Tornado. The total amperage for the same two rails is
listed at 40A on the sticker. This is lower than the 200W and 46A combined
outputs as listed on Seasonic's website. This is not a good thing and the
discrepancy needs to be addressed by Seasonic. As it is, I'm inclined to believe
the lower set of numbers as they are the same ratings as their other 300W
PSUs.
Here's a look at what you get in the Dr. Thermal cable management
kit:

It isn't a bad kit, especially when you consider that most PSUs
don't come with anything to help you manage cables at all! The spiral cut tubing
is easy enough to work with, but it does take a little planning to get all your
cables into just the two tubes that come in the kit.
